Hawaii flood devastation

March 2026 — The Reality

Historic Devastation
Across the Islands

Back-to-back Kona low storms dropped over 40 inches of rain, unleashing the worst flooding Hawaii has seen in over two decades. Communities were buried under red volcanic mud. Families were forced to flee. The damage will take years to rebuild.

O`ahu — North Shore

Tight-knit communities in Waialua and Haleiwa were inundated with red volcanic mud. Over 5,500 residents were forced to evacuate under imminent threat of the Wahiawā Dam overflowing. Roads were destroyed. Farms were ruined. Families were upended overnight.

Maui — Still Recovering

The still-recovering community of Lahaina and surrounding West Maui areas faced terrifying runoff and wastewater overflows. Floodwaters rushed down the fire-scarred mountains. Homes were swept off foundations. Statewide emergency declarations impacted multiple islands.
